Matisse Cut-outs – 16 Posters ‘Ready to Frame’ Taschen
Henri Matisse’s ‘découpes de papier’ were produced after 1941 in the discomfort of his old age. While his paintings expressed flattened form and decorative pattern, his cut-outs or new medium “painting with scissors” reflect a renewed commitment to form and color.
All originals are gouache on paper, cut and pasted.
Collection of images include maquette plates from the illustrated book Jazz (1947).
